I'm giving this rate and a one due to the fact that the place needs a lot of work. One out of 2 showers worked, the toilets were always backed up. We always had to keep our dog on a leash unless we were in the middle of the Woods, but the owners dogs ran free, and other customers as well. The customer service was not bad. We asked for brochures they did not have much off. We where sent on wild goose chases to go fishing at places. They cater to seasonal people or friends. And hardly open on times when needed things. We ended up traveling 22 miles away to go, get groceries or what items that we needed. Our fire pit was located in the front entry way of the spotwhere we were. Not in the back of the spot like other sites, instead of being secluded. This place has so much potential. They just need to learn customer care.
This is not really a review of the campground because I never stayed at the place. First, I don't know why it's bulleted on Main St in Errol, because the campground is located in Maine, some 20 miles North of Errol on Rt 16 on Aziscohos Lake. If you go motoring on Aziscohos, use great care, the lake is VERY SHALLOW! You'll hit rocks out in the middle of the lake in spots. It's better suited for paddling. If you want to motor, try nearby Richardson Lake(not "pond"). It's HUGE and DEEP. There are some hazards there too, but nothing like Az. The nearby Aziscohos Mt trail is a gem of a hike.
Gotta love this place ! My first visit was 35 years ago for a week long canoe trip with my son . . . and most recently , 3 days ago, with a high school buddy. The staff has always been delightful, helpful and accommodating. Best of all, it appears, from reading the reviews of others, the management of the campground has devised an ingenious tactic of keeping jerks away from the place by ignoring them and refusing refunds. A brilliant and profitable practice that assures an ongoing, pleasant wilderness experience for future visitors.
Spent two seasons camping here. They have nice remote island sites, but staff is rude. The owner was extremely disrespectful and if I wasnt already unpacked I would have left. This place has zero customer service. We would continue camping here, but we come for vacation and would like to relax and not be disrespected during our time away each summer.
I go every year, and I love the owners. I can't speak to other reviews, but I've always had a great time. Spot is beautiful.
